Darksiders II features four playable difficulties, each harder than the next.
Easy[]
A Stroll In The Demonic Park: Complete the game on any difficulty setting
Normal[]
Four My Brother: Complete the game on NORMAL
Apocalyptic[]
A True Horseman: Complete the game on APOCALYPTIC.
Nightmare Mode[]
The mode is rewarded after completing the game. It is only available when starting a new game, meaning that it is not available in the New Game Plus mode. While similar to the Apocalyptic difficulty, it does feature a major difference. Upon one's death, all player data for that save will abruptly be wiped, forcing players to restart the game from the beginning. In other words, Death only has one life.
Trivia[]
- Unlike other difficulties, Nightmare Mode does not noticeably increase difficulty, nor does it provide an achievement or trophy upon its completion.
- Completing the game on Apocalyptic will also unlock the achievements or trophies for lower difficulties.
- The remastered version of the game on Xbox One, PS4 and PC named Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition has a new difficulty far harder than Apocalyptic called Deathinitive.
