As The Lord of the Black Stone, Samael commands an army of fierce Demon warriors. It is unknown whether these Legions serve their master out of loyalty or fear but they will defend the Stronghold until the end. In order to gain an audience with the Demon Prince, Death must face these demonic soldiers.
Legion Soldier[]
Legion Soldiers make up the bulk of Samael's forces and usually attack in groups. They are armed with large axes and while not overly resilient or powerful, they can be dangerous if they gang up on the Horseman. They are also quite agile and will often evade Death's blows.
Legion Champion[]
Legion Champions command the lesser demons and are much tougher than their brethren. They carry large maces that can be converted into whips to ensnare their foes and drag them to further punishment. These demons are seldom fought alone and are usually accompanied by several Legion Soldiers.
Legion Ravager[]
Legion Ravagers are formidable spellcasters. With their large staffs, they are capable of channeling their demonic power to summon spikes of eldritch energy from below or conjure powerful blasts on their opponents, tearing them to shreds.

Legion Defiler[]
Legion Defilers are powerful demons equipped with double-bladed glaives. The Defilers have mastered the art of combat with this type of weaponry, using it in close combat, to strike their targets from afar and if overwhelmed, would throw the glaives to slice their opponents in circular motion.

Legion Warmaster[]
Legion Warmasters are very powerful generals of their demonic brethren. Imbued with immense demonic power and unbridled rage, Warmasters, equipped with large battle axes, are capable of slaughtering their enemies with relative ease, performing crushing leaps and conjuring crimson, eldritch spikes with the strike of their axes.
If their opponents prove to be formidable or if they are sufficiently wounded, then the rage within them overflows, making them charge at their opponents and swing their axes until either they or their enemies lie dead.

- It is speculated that Samael's Legions were the recipients of the Artifact collectibles in Darksiders, meaning that they served prominently in the conquest of Earth and implying that Samael himself received the overlord artifact.
