|“|| A dawn of a new age begins with me.|
— The Abyssal Forge
The Abyssal Forge is the final boss of the Darksiders 2 DLC: The Abyssal Forge.
|“|| I crafted The Abyssal Forge to harness the power of the Abyss. It lives, it breeds. It creates constructs that can then build more Abyssal Forges... Hahaha!|
— The Mad Smith on his masterpiece.
The Abyssal Forge is a construct created by The Mad Smith capable of harnessing the power of The Abyss to create powerful constructs which in turn are capable of building more Abyssal Forges. However the sentient construct intended to use these new constructs to conquer creation and allow his progenies to rule it afterwards.
Fortunately it was imprisoned in the Shadow Lands and forced to wait. In the meantime it continued to make an army of metallic constructs though its creator made an unsuccessful attempt to destroy it.
The Abyssal ForgeEdit
|“|| The Abyssal Forge: You are not like the Makers. You are neither angel nor demon, but something of both. What is your function?|
Death: I am Death.
— The Abyssal Forge and Death before battle
When Corruption destroyed the barrier that made the Shadow Lands its prison, the Mad Smith asked Death to destroy his creation. When the Horseman arrived, it claimed its function and purpose was to conquer all of creation but the Nephilim would not allow it.
The Forge noticed that Death was neither Angel nor Demon but something of both then asked his function: the Horseman answered that his function was death. The Nephilim fought the forge and dealt enough damage to reveal its Heart stone and destroyed it causing it to lose all its power and melt within the pool of molten metal, ending the construct's ambition to rule creation.
- Magma Manipulation - The Abyssal Forge can do ground pounds that release waves of molten magma. He can even fire balls of magma from his mouth. Later on he will cause parts of the area to erupt with magma.
- Construct Summoning - At times, the Abyssal Forge can open up some hatches to summon some constructs to battle for him.
- The Abyssal Forge along with Frostbane are the last bosses in their respective DLCs whose power comes from the Abyss.
- Unlike other constructs which appear to be made of stone, The Abyssal Forge, and its creations, appears to be made of steel or iron.
